Join the movement in your town or city on a bridge of your choice over a highway of your choice during rush hour for greater visibility (morning rush hour is between 7:30 am - 8:30 am and evening rush hour is between 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm).
The Federal Minimum Wage is $7.25 per hour. This only ensures poverty & homelessness. There are 20.1 million minimum wage workers. 40% of these folks are the heads of households. They have no paid sick leave, no retirement benefits, and get no vacations. Even people who are single without children can’t make it on $7.25 per hour.
On March 2nd 2010, President Obama was quoted in the New York Times saying that “everyone who wants a job should have a job, and every job should pay a Living Wage. That was my position last year and that continues to be my focus.” We, at the ULW, recognize that as the “bat signal.”
Now it is up to us to mobilize and create a national Call to Action!
