John: So...what are you saying? |
Ben: I'm saying, that you know full well, that minimum wage workers earning $5.15 an hour can't get into housing. It's not just in Austin, but its like all across the country. |
John: Well sure, but who's getting those kinds of wages? |
Ben: Lots of folks...maids, Laundromat guys, lawn workers, construction laborers, janitors, housekeepers...lots of folks. |
John: I guess you're right. How can I help? |
Ben: Well, you can go on-line and vote for a better system. They figured out a formula that makes sure that anyone working a full 40 hour week can at least earn enough for a room...you know, some kind of housing. |
John: Well, that sounds like the right thing to do, all right. I mean, if you work all week at a 40 hour job, you should be able to get into some kind of housing. Anything else would just be, well, un-American. How do I show my support for this Universal Living Wage? |
Ben: Go to www dot Universal Living Wage dot org. Sign the petition. It's that simple. |
John: It's all one word: www dot Universal Living Wage dot org. Vote today. |
Ben: Cool. |
Announcer: Paid for by the www dot Universal Living Wage dot org Campaign. |
